Record My CPD

Engineers Ireland requires its members to undertake and record 35 hours of CPD activities each year with the exception of student members and retired members. You can record your hours in the My CPD section on your dashboard or via the button below.

What counts as CPD?

CPD includes a wide variety of learning activities, many of which are free. Ask yourself if the learning activity contributes to your professional development. If the answer is yes, then it counts as CPD. At Engineers Ireland, we have grouped CPD activities into the following six categories.

Work-based learning

Lunch & learn presentations; work demonstrations; formal induction training; workplace knowledge-sharing.

Professional bodies activities

Lectures, workshops or site visits; committee participation; preparing/delivering a presentation; visiting schools/colleges to promote engineering; volunteering; earning a professional title.

Self-directed learning

Structured reading; structured viewing; researching, writing and/or publishing a journal article or paper.

Mentoring and coaching

Acting as a mentor or coach; Being mentored or coached.

Courses, seminars and conferences

Attending courses, webcasts, seminars or conferences; preparing/delivering a presentation; undertaking e-learning.

Further education

Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or PhD, Diploma, Certificate.
