Engineers Week

EI_STEPS_logo_HOR-Amber-on-WHT-RGBEngineers Week has been created to introduce primary and secondary school children to the diverse world of engineering.

We do this by providing practical resources for teachers, such as hands-on activities, a classroom celebration pack and on-demand virtual engineering shows. We encourage engineering organisations to collaborate with their local schools; they can choose from a menu of activities to interact with the students.

Engineers Week 2025 took place in the first week of March. Please subscribe to our mailing list to be the first to hear about Engineers Week 2026.

Anyone who wishes to promote the importance of engineering to primary and secondary school children can take part. This includes engineers, organisations, colleges, libraries, families, teachers, stem professionals, science communicators, and local authorities. In our experience, this combination of professional expertise and learning-by-doing inspires children to open their eyes to how engineering is part of everyday life.

Cities of the Future
The Engineers Ireland STEPS programme has teamed up with the EPA to launch the Engineer the City of the Future Competition that challenges primary and secondary school students to engineer how Irish cities will look by 2050. The competition aims to introduce engineering in a fun way and encourages students to develop their problem-solving, creative and communication skills.
