Course Aim

Correctly managing stakeholders is one of the critical components to the success and continuous improvement of any project whether big or small.

This course will show you how to classify key stakeholders, implement a management strategy and monitor results. The day will be a hands-on training session with exercises and discussions to give attendees the best knowledge to take away and implement in their roles.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, delegates should be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Stakeholder Management and Governance
  • Illustrate an ability to communicate well, motivate, handle and delegate responsibilities, manage projects, and listen to feedback.
  • Develop an understanding of effective oral, written, graphic and presentation skills including the methods and techniques that are appropriate to specific situations.
  • To be able to examine methods for measuring the effectiveness of stakeholder engagement efforts and assessing the impact of stakeholder management on organisational performance and social outcomes.
  • Develop the skills necessary to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders over time, fostering trust, collaboration, and mutual understanding.
  • Identify and analyse stakeholders relevant to a given project, organisation, considering their interests, power, and influence.
  • Acquire skills in conflict resolution and mediation, enabling them to address conflicts and disagreements among stakeholders in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Evaluate strategies for effectively managing change initiatives while engaging stakeholders throughout the process, fostering buy-in, and minimising resistance.
  • Analyse complex stakeholder dynamics within organizations, industries, and communities, identifying key stakeholders, their interests, and their potential impact on organizational outcomes.
  • Delegates will enhance their ability to influence and negotiate with diverse stakeholder groups, employing effective communication techniques, persuasive strategies, and principled negotiation approaches

Trainer Profile

Sonya Meekel MBA, MSc, M.A, P.G Dip.Proj Man, P.G Dip Ed, BSc Eng  C.Eng, M.I.E.I.

Sonya has over 20 years’ experience in the Construction Industry, and is currently a lecturer in Technological University Dublin.  She has previously worked as a Design Build Consultant Engineer, and a Project Manager throughout her career. Sonya graduated from DIT with an BSc in Structural Engineering, and has since continued her studies extensively.

The development of People and People management became an area of passion leading to her research for her MBA in the Strategic Imperatives of Soft Skill Training and Development, and recently completing a level 8 in Business Coaching. Sonya areas of expertise are embedded in the world of Construction and Business.
