Ireland rose to seventh place on the EU Digital Economy and Society Index 2019, coming behind Finland, Sweden, Netherlands, Denmark, the UK and Luxembourg with an overall score of 61.4 compared to an EU average of 52.5, it has been revealed.
Ireland was in first place for the integration of digital technology with the highest share of SMEs selling online and the highest percentage of overall turnover from ecommerce.
However, Ireland was well below average in areas such as ultrafast broadband coverage; fixed broadband cost; share of population with at least basic digital skills and use of e-health services.
