More than 340 members of Engineers Ireland are set to be conferred with registered professional titles at forthcoming conferring ceremonies, taking place across Ireland and the United Kingdom in April and May.
The conferring events, which will take place in Galway, Cork, Limerick, Dublin, Dungannon and London, will see those who have achieved the prestigious titles of associate engineer, engineering technician, Chartered Engineer and Fellow between March 2021 and February 2022 join with volunteer members and representatives from regional branches to celebrate their achievements.
The conferring ceremonies are also set to be an extra special celebration for members of the institution as they will be the first in-person conferring events since 2019.
Registered professional title of Chartered Engineer
More than 270 members will be awarded the registered professional title of Chartered Engineer, an accolade associated with the very best of the engineering profession.
Additionally, 45 members of the institution will receive the Title of Fellow, the highest level of membership awarded by Engineers Ireland. This title is reserved for engineers who have demonstrated a significant level of experience and professionalism. More than 20 members of the institution will also be conferred with engineering technician and associate engineer titles.
In addition to celebrating members who have achieved a registered professional title, Engineers Ireland president Professor Orla Feely will also deliver her presidential address on 'Saints, scholars and engineers: How engineering transformed a nation' and volunteer members will be recognised for their contributions.
The National Conferring ceremony in Dublin on May 24 is set to be the largest conferring event, with more than 70 members of the profession set to be conferred alongside those who have been honoured with the prestigious titles of Honorary Fellow and Fellow by presidential invitation.
The Engineers Journal looks forward to sharing pictures and updates from each conferring ceremony with our members over the coming weeks and we hope that you can join with us in celebrating our conferees.
