Trinity College Dublin’s Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering for Climate Action, offered by the School of Engineering, is a blended learning* programme which offers a unique opportunity for students to attain new knowledge and experience to effectively respond to the climate emergency and make an impact at an individual, organisational and national level.
This full time or part time** postgraduate diploma (over one or two years, respectively) targets individuals who have recently taken up, or wish to transition to positions of responsibility for climate action and sustainability within engineering-related industries.
This programme will support your capacity to address key climate challenges including energy transitions and material resources in transport, infrastructure and industry through informed and innovative actions.
This programme is comprised of seven modules, totalling 60 ECTS. This is delivered over an eight-month (September- April) period across two-semesters, in one year (full time) or two years (part time).
Why take this programme?
This Engineering for Climate Action qualification will equip graduates with the skills to implement climate action within engineering-related sectors, including energy, transport, the built environment, etc.
The programme will be delivered by academic and industry experts from engineering, business and psychology who will provide unique perspectives to the role of technical, social, environmental and entrepreneurial skills to support the successful implementation of climate action measures.
The programme schedule and blended-learning format of this programme will provide flexibility for students to participate in the course out of standard working hours (a combination of week-day evenings and Saturday mornings) and through an in-person or virtual learning environment.
Entry requirements
Admission to the course is competitive. Applicants will be expected to have an honours bachelor’s degree at 2.1 or above, in a STEM (science, technology, engineering or mathematics), architecture, or a related cognate discipline.
Well-qualified candidates or industry professionals from other numerate disciplines who have sufficient knowledge of engineering or science, may also be considered for admissions purposes subject to the decision of the Dean of Graduate Studies.
