The Local Authority Services National Training Group (LASNTG) has the role of overseeing and managing on behalf of the 34 Local Authorities nationally, the provision of quality training to staff in the areas of roads, water and environment through a series of 4 National Committees and 5 Regional Training Centres based in Roscrea Co. Tipperary, Ballincollig Co. Cork, Ballycoolin, Co. Dublin, Castlebar Co. Mayo and Stranorlar Co. Donegal.

To meet the needs of fulfilling the aims of the course and to achieve the learner's further education to enable the task to be completed in an efficient and quality assured manner.

Course outline

Module 1: Introduction to the processes involved in Water Conservation, Special emphasis is placed on performance indicators and setting target levels of leakage. 
Module 2:  Leak Detection & Location - focus on leakage control and works prioritisation. 

Module 3:  Pressure Management and Hydraulic Modelling - discuss demand management, consumer-side loss and leak sounding theory.

Trainer's profile

Elaine Shields is a Chartered Engineer and has been employed by Ryan Hanley consulting engineers since graduating from NUI, Galway in 1998. Since then Elaine has been involved in the management and implementation of several countywide water conservation projects. Through her work on water conservation projects, Elaine has provided training (both informal and formal) to the various grades of Local Authority Staff on many elements of water conservation works.
