Roadbridge and Limerick City and County Council have begun work on Limerick Smart CCTV Project. The CCTV installation project means that 14 towns and villages across the Limerick hinterland will be monitored by CCTV, with data being fed back to a central hub in Moyross.
The project consists of the installation of a new CCTV system with associated infrastructural works at in various town/village locations throughout in Co. Limerick. The areas affected by the works will consist of the roads, footpaths, car-parking and green areas. The works will involve the excavation of duct runs through existing roads, footpaths, car-parking and green areas and landscaped areas including all mechanical and electrical installations associated with same.
The works are to be carried out within the following 14 towns within county Limerick with multiple works sites in some towns: Newcastle West; Rathkeale; Askeaton; Castleconnell; Abbeyfeale; Kilmallock; Adare; Pallasgreen; Caherconlish; Croom; Foynes; Murroe; Patrickswell; and Cappamore.
The objectives and deliverables shall be as follows;
- Provide robust and consistent stream (signal) from all cameras back to the server;
- The smart CCTV platform must allow secure remote access to different categories of users and organisations (council departments;
- An Garda Siochana, Moyross Community Enterprise Centre), in multiple locations and to mobile devices.
- The smart CCTV platform shall provide high quality analytics, with all data generated to available over API (Application Programme Interface). All data shall be available in an automated format with no “locked down” features or other restrictions. As a minimum, the following smart features shall be provided;
- Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)
- Traffic counting data
- Footfall counting data
- Movement tracking, video-recording and alarm trigger on movement only.
