This award is open to all disciplines of engineering and environmental industries. Entries should clearly demonstrate how the project embraced the core pillars of sustainability throughout the planning, delivery and the long-term benefits delivered by the project.

Entry Details

Within your submission, please detail how your project fits each of the six key criteria below (each criterion 500 words maximum). Each criterion should also include relevant supporting materials such as photos, drawings and/or video links (max 4 per criterion).
Please also include an executive summary of 200 words maximum which provides a succinct description of the entry and the principal elements of its claim for engineering excellence. This material is a key element in the judging process and will be also used for media and promotional purposes should you be shortlisted. 

Key criteria 

1. Environmental
The entry should outline, in a measurable manner, the environmental improvements which have been achieved following the completion of the project to the local, regional or national environment. 
2. Social
The entry should highlight how the project has made a positive impact on local community and/or society in general.
3. Economic
The entry should identify the costs efficiencies were achieved throughout out the delivery of the project and also improvements in energy efficiency, waste reduction, maintenance or other elements to improve efficiency throughout lifecycle of the project.
4. Originality and adaptability of the solution
The entry should clearly demonstrate innovation and creativity achieving the best solution for the required specifications. The entry should also highlight the adaptability of the solution for further applications.
5. Sustainable planning
The entry should identify the considerations and mitigation measures implemented during the planning and delivery phases of the project. The entry should also highlight how best practice project management.
6. Leadership
The entry should identify how the project team demonstrated clear and effective environmental leadership throughout the life cycle of the project.


The initiative must have been completed within a two-year period prior to the closing date for entries - Wednesday, 18 September 2019. Please clearly state the date of completion within your entry.
Projects must have been carried out fully or partially by an engineering organisation either Irish owned or based in Ireland. Joint entries by multiple organisations are welcome.   

How to Enter 

  • The deadline for submissions is 2pm on Wednesday, 18 September 2019.  Please read the terms and conditions of entry prior to submitting your entry.
  • Your submission may include drawings, pictures, photographs and other methods of illustration as indicated above. All entry material and supporting material should be carefully marked with the category, entry title and name of the organisation (and partner organisations if applicable) and completion date.   • Once submitted, please proceed to the payment page to submit your entry fee of €250.  The application fee applies per project entered. We can only accept entries that are received with payment. Entry fees are non-refundable.
