Course Aim

This programme provides an understanding of the characteristics that constitute an effective Lean process, and the thinking and methods that are used to identify and eliminate waste from existing processes. It supports this with practical knowledge of effective problem-solving approaches to harvest opportunities for continuous improvement using Lean Thinking.

Course Objectives: Outcomes

  • Appreciation of the context of Lean thinking and Practical Problem Solving at the core of continuous improvement
  • Understanding the practical application of Lean Thinking and how it applies to workplaces and work processes
  • Ability to identify and harvest the right opportunities using Lean Thinking
  • Ability to apply a specific, best practice, structured approach and thinking, to solve problems correctly and efficiently to deliver continuous process improvement

Who Should Attend

The programme is primarily designed for Engineers, Managers, and Leaders who are exploring a change in emphasis on continuous improvement of processes and workplaces.

It is tailored to those who seek practical insights into Lean Thinking and best practice problem solving methods to more effectively confront the challenges and waste endemic in existing work processes.

Learning Approach

The workshop emphasis will be blended with highly interactive practical exercises, both individually and in teams, backed by instructor led discussion and content delivery.

A key emphasis will be connecting the concepts to real world examples including attendee environments.

Trainer’s Profile 

Eddie O’Neill/Cill Edon Consulting: Owner/Director and Senior Lean Practitioner.

Eddie is a vastly experienced Lean thinker, consultant and coach, with an extensive background of driving and supporting lean transformation and continuous process improvement programmes, spanning a diverse spectrum of business environments.

Drawing from over 25 years’ experience and continuous learning, with clients ranging across Manufacturing, Engineering, Food, Pharma, Medical Devices, Construction Engineering, Banking, Legal, Energy, Services & Back office, he brings a truly broad perspective, deep knowledge and unique skillset in leading Lean & Six Sigma activities. 

This includes over 10 years’ experience within Dell Computers leading high performance Engineering teams spanning New Products Programme Management, Process Engineering & Quality Engineering and as a Business Process Improvement champion across support functions such as Customer Experience, Sales & Marketing. 

In a consultancy role spanning 15 years, both with LBS Partners and more recently as Owner/Director with Cill Edon Consulting, he has coached client organisations through extensive change programmes, and continuous improvement strategy development and deployment activities. 

As a leading educator in the field, he has focused on engaging, motivating and empowering individuals and teams, to develop and embed capability within client organisations. His engagements span people development, highly engaging training delivery, mentoring and coaching from Yellow Belt to Masters level and including Leadership Development, Lean Project management, Lean Green Belt, all underpinned by a deep understanding of effective Problem Solving and continuous improvement methods.
