Course Overview

The Last Planner® System programme provides learners with the knowledge and skills to effectively execute and manage the Last Planner® System on projects.

The Last Planner System® (LPS) is a collaborative project management approach designed to improve the reliability and predictability of construction workflows. Developed with Lean Construction principles at its core, LPS focuses on enhancing communication, planning accuracy, and task execution across all levels of a construction project.

LPS operates through a series of progressively detailed planning phases, starting with high-level milestones and refining down to daily tasks. The key planning components include Master Planning, Phase Planning, Lookahead Planning, and Weekly Work Planning. Each phase involves the active participation of project stakeholders, ensuring that everyone involved is aligned and accountable.

A critical feature of LPS is the use of “pull planning,” where tasks are scheduled based on when they are needed rather than when they are first requested, reducing bottlenecks and waste. Additionally, LPS emphasizes continuous learning and improvement, with teams regularly reviewing performance to identify and eliminate obstacles.

Overall, LPS promotes a more predictable, efficient, and collaborative construction process, leading to better project outcomes and higher satisfaction among all participants. This training will equip you with the foundational knowledge and practical skills to implement LPS effectively in your projects.
