Half-day course
CPD Credit: 4 hours, C1/C2
Course Aim
This blended programme, which consists of 3 pre-recorded videos and 1 live online session, offers an introduction to whole-life carbon and lifecycle analysis.
Course Overview
The CO2 emission from constructing and operating our buildings are estimated to contribute around 39% of global CO2 emissions. The embodied carbon in our building materials alone contributes around 11% and may exceed 230 gigatons by 2060*. It is essential that we learn to understand where the hotspots are in the lifecycle of a building in order to address them.
With many building certification schemes requiring carbon and life cycle analysis and increasing requirements for carbon analysis in planning decisions in Europe and around the world, it is important to keep abreast of this changing aspect of our built environment.
That’s why the IGBC developed Whole Life Carbon Training: if you are interested in learning how to quantify the carbon emissions associated with your building designs this online course is for you.
Programme
This training consists of 3 pre-recorded videos:
- Introduction
- Methodology
- Tools & Advice
This is followed by a short assessment after watching the videos and before the Q&A Session which will include a demo of the OneClick LCA software, a demo of the Carbon Designer for Ireland tool, followed by a Q&A based on the content of the videos.
