Course Overview

This one-day course will provide an insight to valve and actuator technology. It will cover check valves, shut-off valves, solenoid valves, regulators, pressure relief valves, control valves, actuators, and valve accessories.

Delegates will learn how to ensure the selection of the optimal valve size, body and trim materials, components, and accessories.

Each delegate will learn through active participation using exercises and practical sessions covering the different types of valves.

Course Aim

The primary objective is to give each delegate a practical understanding of valves, actuators, and accessories through a comprehensive look at the design and application of valves as an integral part of the piping system. Control valves as the final control element in a process control system will be covered as well as essential maintenance and installation guidance.

The course will cover, but is not limited to:

Introduction to valves

Valve Types

Actuators

Comparison of valves and actuator type

Relief Valve

Control Valve

oControl Valve Selection: Rotary/Sliding Stem

oLiquid Valve Sizing

oGas Valve Sizing

oValve Characteristics – Inherent and Installed

oValve Cavitation

oValve Noise

oPositioners and Transducers

oValve Application Guidelines

Valve Specification

Specialty Valves

Installation and Maintenance

Who Should Attend?

This course is focused to the needs of chemical, instrumentation, maintenance, and mechanical engineers and technicians working with pumps across the biopharma, food, water and wastewater, chemical and power generation sectors.
