'Engineering the Future'

Engineers Ireland at the National Ploughing Championships 2024

Engineers Ireland attended the National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska, Co. Laois, on 17 - 19 September.

Showcasing the wonders of engineering under the theme ‘Engineering the Future’, our focus was on inspiring young people to explore engineering careers. We had a dedicated STEPS section where our team shared information about our annual academic activities and how to get involved.

There was lots of fun, educational and interactive exhibits in the marquee, including:

  • Setanta: the robot Dog: Visitors were able to witness the cutting-edge technology of this fascinating robotic canine.
  • Formula 1 racing car: Attendees could take a virtual spin in a state-of-the-art F1 simulator.
  • Space store: Kids, adults and everyone in between were able to enjoy a VR space experience or try on a replica spacesuit worn by Tim Peake during his ISS launch.
