As calls for project applications for this year’s Engineering Excellence Digital Series, held in association with ESB, get underway, we are also encouraging our members to put forward their nominations for the prestigious Engineer of the Year title.
The Engineer of the Year title will be awarded to an engineer from the broad range of engineering fields who has demonstrated excellence, visionary leadership, and influence that has had a significant positive impact and contribution to their organisation, the engineering community, or society.
In addition to media profiling opportunities in national and regional media, the Engineer of the Year will also be profiled as part of the Engineering Excellence Digital Series, a five-part online video series which will celebrate and recognise the role of engineers in society.
In 2021, Aisling Hahessy was awarded the prestigious title of Engineer of the Year. Aisling, a Senior Structural Engineer with engineering consultancy firm Arup, was chosen by Engineers Ireland’s Officers as our Engineer of the Year in recognition of the impact and contribution of her work on communities in Ireland and overseas.
A graduate of the University of Limerick, Aisling has worked on city-shaping projects and on numerous humanitarian and development projects in countries including Rwanda, Peru, Uganda, and Bangladesh. Find out more about Aisling here.
