Dell is to create 100 new highly skilled engineering jobs at its Limerick campus. The jobs follow on from the creation of 60 roles in October 2014 at Dell’s R&D centre in Dublin. The Limerick based R&D team will work closely with the R&D team based in Cherrywood, Co. Dublin as well as with IT colleagues located across the globe to help support and drive Dell’s overall digital transformation strategy. The investment in digital innovation will support the company’s ongoing technology transformation in an effort to drive the development of Dell’s online platform. The creation of the two centres will see Ireland become a central development hub for the company’s innovation technology team. In Limerick, to announce the investment, was Dell’s chief information officer, Paul J. Walsh. “We know that the level of technical talent in Ireland is great and we’re excited to tap into it, augmenting the existing talent that we have here already,” said Walsh. “As a global end to end solutions provider, we have the ability to quickly meet the evolving needs of our customers. The efforts of the IT team in Ireland will serve a critical role in driving our Dell IT innovation efforts and positioning Dell as a true end-to-end IT solutions provider,” he added. Aongus Hegarty, Dell EMEA president, said the decision to invest further in Ireland is proof of the highly skilled talent available here. Operating in over 170 countries and 28 languages, Dell is one of the largest retailers in the world. Recruitment for the new jobs, primarily highly skilled engineering roles, will commence straight away.
