The Construction Industry Council (CIC), represented by its Chair, Micheál Mahon, and all its constituent members, including Engineers Ireland, has asked that the Government announce the earliest possible date for the safe remobilisation of the built environment sector (property and construction) in the coming weeks. While the CIC fully appreciates the need for a cautious easing of restrictions, it seeks that the outlier position of the construction and property sectors operating under level 5 plus restrictions is corrected to allow for their opening, as was the case during the level 5 restrictions of October and November.
The CIC looks forward to working with the Government to promote the industry's prompt and safe remobilisation. A copy of the letter to An Taoiseach, Micheál Martin TD can be accessed here.
