When robots are integrated with other machinery and a new cell created, it becomes a complex assembly of machinery and should be CE marked. It is not enough to assume that each machine is CE marked. Other hazards are created which the integrator should assess and control.
All too often, this does not happen and the end-user has the responsibility for ensuring the system is safe.
The Processing & Packaging Machinery Association (PPMA) is able to help integrators and end-users with the practical aspects of CE marking and is pleased to be able to deliver a seminar for companies using, purchasing, designing and manufacturing machines incorporating industrial robots.
The seminar discusses some of the issues regarding CE marking of complex assemblies and the requirements of the various standards, including:
- EN ISO 10218-1:2011 Robots & Robotic Devices - Safety Requirements For Industrial Robots - Part 1: Robots;
- EN ISO 10218-2:2011 Robots & Robotic Devices - Safety Requirements For Industrial Robots - Part 2: Robot Systems & Integration.
Areas covered include legal requirements and responsibilities, risk assessment, documentation requirements and functional safety:
- CE marking
- BS EN ISO 10218 - Parts 1 & 2
- Hazard identification
- Risk assessment & risk reduction
- Safety & safeguarding
- Safety requirements & safety-related control systems.
The seminar will be held at the Carlton Hotel, Old Airport Road, Co Dublin on 15 April 2015 from 9.30am until 4pm. To book a place, or for further information, please contact Christine Jordan on +44 (0)20 8773 8111, or e-mail christine.jordan@ppma.co.uk. Click here for more details.
