As an association of engineers, we are deeply shocked by the Russian invasion and attack on Ukraine which has initiated a humanitarian crisis for the people of Ukraine.
We express our support and solidarity with the people of Ukraine and we pledge to support Ukrainian engineers and engineering students in whatever way we can.
Together with Engineers Ireland and other national engineering associations, the Union of Scientific and Engineering Associations of Ukraine is a member of FEANI - the European Federation of Professional Engineers. FEANI aims to facilitate the mutual recognition of engineering qualifications in Europe and to strengthen the position, role and responsibility of engineers in society.
We have written today to Nikolay Kirjukhin, the Secretary General of the Union of Scientific and Engineering Associations of Ukraine, advising him of our support.
Engineers Ireland will work with Ukrainian engineers who wish to become established in Ireland through such means as evaluating engineering qualifications, offering support such as access to free on-line Continuing Professional Development opportunities, linking engineers with industry representatives and connecting them with our Regional Branch and specialist Divisional networks. We will also work with any Ukrainian engineering students, who wish to continue their studies here, by offering advice, signposting and connections.
The institution is making a donation to the Irish Red Cross to support the humanitarian efforts arising from the crisis.
