University College Dublin has announced that mechanical engineering graduate and award-winning DJ Tom Dunne will be its MC for the centenary celebration of the UCD Schools of Civil, Electrical and Electronic and Mechanical and Materials Engineering on Friday, October 18.
There will be a black-tie gala dinner, which will be held in O'Reilly Hall from 7pm. "We want our alumni to gather together to celebrate this occasion with their classmates and friends," the university said. "This promises to be a night of celebration, reconnection and nostalgia and we look forward to welcoming you back to UCD."
Dunne has worked as a broadcaster with some of the biggest radio stations in Ireland, including Newstalk and 98FM, with his show Pet Sounds on Today FM running for almost 10 years.
He was a songwriter and lead singer of the band Something Happens until the mid-1990s, as well as working as a presenter on RTÉ. Tom currently writes a weekly column for HQ Magazine City, an entertainment supplement in 'The Herald'.
