DataCentres Ireland 2019 demonstrates investment is growing in the sector.

Dublin: Now in its eighth year, DataCentres Ireland, which will be held in the RDS on Tuesday, November 19, and Wednesday, November 20, will bring together everyone involved in the dynamic and fast-growing Irish data sector.

Heat management and supercomputing

In addition to the exhibition floor with more than 100 exhibitors, the free-to-attend event’s two discussion streams (Strategy and Operations) will include panel discussions on a range of topics including data regulation, future trends, sustainable energy and Brexit — as well as a wide range of technical topics, from upgrading legacy technologies to heat management and supercomputing (HPC).

This year the stakes are higher than ever: at a time of economic uncertainty driven by Brexit and with digital transformation on everybody’s lips, data centres are expanding in their role as the power behind Ireland’s pitch as Europe’s primary tech hub and an expanding financial centre.

Investment in data centres has already reached €1.3 billion on an annual basis and the construction of new data centres will generate more than €4.5 billion in inward investment for Ireland by 2025, according to the latest industry update report from Host In Ireland in association with Bitpower.

The industry is also a change leader in energy use.

“What is most encouraging is that this year we have seen several large scale investments in the renewable energy sector from leading data centre operators. We expect these non-subsidised investments to continue,” said Garry Connolly, president of Host In Ireland.

DataCentres Ireland 2019 will be held in the RDS on Tuesday, November 19, and Wednesday, November 20, and entry is free for registered visitors.
