Murphy Surveys has announced the appointment of Jerry Grant as non-executive director of the company. Grant is a former consulting engineer and served as managing director of Irish Water and previously RPS Group in Ireland.
He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to support the strategic growth and direction of Murphy Surveys, the company said. In the newly created role, Grant will join the board of directors and support the executive directors and management team as it embarks on an ambitious strategy for growth and in delivering enhanced customer value, it said.
Oversaw delivery of some of largest infrastructure projects in Ireland
Grant’s career spans four decades and his achievements have earned him recognition as Ireland’s foremost technical expert in water services. During his role as managing director of RPS he oversaw the delivery of some of the largest infrastructure projects in Ireland in water, transport, waste management and environmental services.
As head of asset management and latterly as managing director of Irish Water, he has played a leading role in establishing the national water utility, development of Ireland’s first 25-year Water Services Strategic Plan; the Irish Water Business Plan (2014-2016) and delivering more than €1.7 billion in capital investment to 2018.
In these roles Grant worked closely with various government departments, local authorities and regulatory authorities including the Environmental Protection Agency, Health Service Executive and the Commission for Regulation of Utilities.

Grant starts the role immediately working alongside existing directors Niall Murphy, Ray Murphy, Colin Murphy, Diarmuid Murphy and Billy Roche.
