Kapal Dev, PhD student and assistant lecturer at the Department of Computer Science in MTU Cork, has been selected as a member of the Global Young Academy.
The Global Young Academy is an international society of young scientists, aiming to give a voice to young scientists across the globe.
Dev is one of 40 scientists chosen as members this year. Members are elected for five-year terms and participate in international science policy development; support science-based solutions to global challenges; and empower future generations of researchers through advocacy and support. Dev’s appointment as a member of the Global Young Academy demonstrates MTU’s position as a centre of excellence in education and research.
Formerly a senior researcher at MTU, Dev is currently serving as an assistant lecturer in MTU. His research interests include wireless communication networks, blockchain and artificial intelligence; he has supervised more than 22 students at master's and PhD level in the same areas. He has published more than 70 research papers, and was named IEEE ComSoc EMEA Outstanding Young Researcher in 2022.
Dev said: “I am delighted to have been chose from a pool of brilliant young researchers/scientist worldwide from all fields. Being recognised by Global Young Academy is a powerful validation of my work and fuels my excitement to contribute to their mission of connecting with other early-career scientists across disciplines and continents.”
