Intelligent Mobility (IM) allows us to connect people, places and goods across all modes of transport. Done correctly, IM ensures that fully integrated transport solutions and associated services are put in place providing safe, sustainable and reliable movement of people and goods.
On Wednesday, February 12, Arup in collaboration with the Roads and Transportation Society (RTS) of Engineers Ireland launched a programme of events that sets out to establish 2020 as the year of Intelligent Mobility.
Collaboration with Irish and global industry leaders
Focused on collaboration with Irish and global industry leaders, the programme is aimed at guiding strategic thinking and tactical planning for the development of a fully integrated transport solution.
Carol Kavanagh, chair of Roads and Transportation Society, said: “The RTS is delighted to collaborate with Arup to create a forum for conversations around Intelligent Mobility, in order to drive improved transport solutions for all, and to build on the rapid pace of change currently taking place within the sector.
“We hope to bring public, private, and commercial organisations together to generate a vision for the future of integrated transport, to understand the opportunities and challenges that exist, and to implement innovative technological solutions to provide wholly integrated transport systems. Engineers will have a key role to play in achieving this."
Organiser and Intelligent Mobility business leader Dr John McCarthy was joined by Europe digital services leader Padraig Kenny and a host of panellists from a range of organisations including TII, Jaguar Land Rover, FreeNow, Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, and Dublin City Council to discuss innovative solutions and the current challenges faced by the industry and policy makers alike.
