On March 7, 2022, industrial metrology specialist the Sempre Group officially opens its Dublin facility. The 180 square metre facility will provide Irish manufacturers with better access to metrology products and services, as well as local support from its Irish team.
To celebrate the opening it will be hosting a series of open house events to give manufacturers demonstrations of state-of-the art quality and inspection systems.
At the Dublin facility, the company will showcase innovative metrology systems and software from a range of leading global manufacturers. For a limited time, visitors to the site can see demonstrations of these systems in person, such as the DWFritz Zerotouch 3D scanning system, Novacam non-contact bore inspection equipment and the Sensofar optical profiler.
'Metrology enables manufacturers to make improvements'
“Manufacturers often treat quality as an afterthought – I regularly visit companies that still store quality management data on paper in huge filing cabinets,” explained Mike John, technical director at the firm. “On our open days we aim to change the narrative and demonstrate how metrology enables manufacturers to make improvements at every step of production.”
“Our open day gives local manufacturers the opportunity to see the on the ground support we can offer,” explained Jason McGlynn, commercial manager. “By better understanding the needs of manufacturers in the area, we can supply the metrology equipment needed to give manufacturers that competitive edge in the global market.”
At the facility, group's team will demonstrate the core steps and benefits of quality at every stage of production – from drawing to product. These steps include ballooning and creating of in-process inspection plans, creating measurement routines, bespoke measurement solutions such as fixtures, connected metrology, lean working, reporting and compliance.
The company first expanded into Ireland in March 2020 by introducing McGlynn to the team as commercial manager. It has since expanded to include service and application engineer, Paul Cullen, as well as a dedicated Irish technical support team.
The office will further support Sempre’s Irish customers, enabling the Irish team to carry out contract measurement services locally, cutting down the number of days that can be lost by shipping from Ireland to England.
