The Chemical and Process Division organise a competition for chemical and biotech undergraduate students. Each university with a chemical engineering degree select two students who each submit an article to the Engineers Journal. ILC Dover sponsor prizes for the best articles. The award ceremony for the 2021 graduates took place recently in Cork.
The winner this year was Padraig Sheehan from MTU Cork for his article entitled 'Analysis of Water Usage Efficiencies and Increasing Capacity in Micro Bio Ireland Ltd'. The two runners-up prizes were awarded to Keelan Glenanne, UCD for 'Future Energy: Bridging the Hydrogen Gap' and Niamh O’Connell UCD for 'Impact of Model Selection in the Modelling of RPLC Systems for Biopharmaceutical Development'.
L-R: Valerie Fenton, chair Cork Region, Keelan Glennane, UCD, Padraig Sheehan, MTU and Professor Órla Feely, president of Engineers Ireland, 2021-22

The evening was very enjoyable. Participants, guests and members enjoyed socialising afterwards. Thanks also to David O’Riordan of the Engineers Journal and Ciaran Finnerty of the Chemical and Process Division for their support and thanks also to ILC Dover who are continuing their sponsorship for the coming year.
