Tyndall would like to extend a sincere congratulations to Dr Ann Kelleher, who has been inducted into the 2022 Women in Manufacturing Hall of Fame. 

The Women in Manufacturing Hall of Fame honours women who have made outstanding contributions during the course of their established careers in manufacturing. Recipients include women who are dedicated to supporting, promoting and inspiring women in the manufacturing industry.

After achieving first class honours in engineering in 1987 and a MEng in 1989 from University College Cork, Dr Kelleher became the first woman to receive a PhD from the National Microelectronics Research Centre (NMRC), the forerunner of Tyndall National Institute, in 1993. 

Since that time, Dr Kelleher has served on the Tyndall Board from 2012-2022. Now as the executive vice president and general manager of technology development at Intel, Dr Kelleher consistently sought out innovation for development and manufacturing processes.

Professor Sarah Culloty, head of college, science, engineering and food science at UCC, said: "I would like to congratulate Dr Ann Kelleher on her induction into the Women in Manufacturing Hall of Fame. We are incredibly proud of her achievements as a UCC engineering graduate who has gone on to become a global technology leader. She is an advocate for the advancement of women in STEM and an exceptional role model for our students."

CEO of Tyndall National Institute, William Scanlon, also commended Dr Kelleher on her latest achievement: “We would like to congratulate Dr Kelleher on her latest honour. She was our first woman PhD graduate and we are continually grateful for her contributions more recently as a member of the Tyndall Board. It is another significant achievement and serves as further inspiration for women in our industry.”

The group will be officially welcomed to the Hall of Fame with a ceremony and gala on October 12, as part of Women in Manufacturing’s 12th annual SUMMIT taking place in Atlanta.
