As engineering academics prepare for the new academic year, Engineers Ireland's Academic Society has announced that it is to host a free webinar on remote and virtual laboratories. It will be held on Thursday, September 3, from 10am until 11.30am.
Remote and virtual laboratories
Engineering academics responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by moving teaching and assessment online, however, the delivery of laboratories and other ‘hands on’ activities represents a challenge in distance and blended contexts.
In this webinar, speakers will address the impact of COVID-19 on engineering teaching, assessment and laboratories in Ireland, and how remote and virtual laboratories can provide students with learning experiences in distance and blended contexts.
The presentations will be followed by discussion, including sharing experiences on remote and virtual laboratories.
The webinar is free, although booking is required to receive the webinar link.
In Continual Professional Development (CPD) terms, it is relevant with regard to 'Knowledge and understanding' and 'Communication and interpersonal skills', and will count towards 1.5 CPD Award Hours.
