Arup, one of the largest engineering consulting firms in Ireland, has been awarded the 2020 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Employer of the Year Award by Engineers Ireland, it has been announced.

Supported by the Department of Education and Skills and sponsored by Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland, the award recognises the use of best-practice continuing professional development initiatives in achieving organisational objectives, with the winner selected from Engineers Ireland’s CPD Accredited Employers network which represents a large and diverse range of engineering employers across public and private sectors.

Technological transformation and innovation

First accredited in 2002, Arup was most recently reaccredited in June 2020 having achieved transformational level during the CPD audit process, recognising Arup’s sustained agenda of technological transformation and innovation and CPD practices which enable ongoing rapid, step-changes to meet market needs.

Caroline Spillane, director general of Engineers Ireland, said: “Engineers Ireland is pleased to award Arup the 2020 CPD Employer of the Year Award in recognition of its success in utilising CPD to deliver its digital transformation and equality, diversity and inclusion strategic objectives.

"The promotion of digital transformation and equality, diversity and inclusion has been supported by Arup at a European and local level and has ensured both objectives are embedded in all CPD initiatives from organisation level knowledge sharing and workshops, to mentoring and formal structured courses.

“Digital transformation and equality, diversity and inclusion are critically important development areas for all engineering organisations and their people to ensure continued growth and market success nationally and internationally.

'At forefront of most ambitious and challenging design and engineering'
