In 1976, Viriform, or Tegral Metal Forming as it was previously known, entered the structural metal products market.

From its factory in Athy, Co Kildare, the company produced a range of products to satisfy engineers, contractors and fabricators across Ireland.

Product development has continued at a rate of knots over the intervening years with Viriform maintaining its research, development and production roots at its south Kildare premises.

ComFlor, its metal composite flooring range, is a particular jewel in the crown. It is a metal profile used in conjunction with concrete to provide a composite action between the floor and the steel frame construction.

Sustainability considerations

Viriform supplies six different profiles to the market and to this day its ComFlor51 and ComFlor60 profiles remain the only composite flooring products manufactured in Ireland – a real point of difference when it comes to sustainability considerations such as carbon embodiment.

It is also the only manufacturer to provide the option of crushed-ends on its profiles. Doing this gives choice to the engineer when deciding how to fire-stop the floor.

Another pillar of Viriform’s offering is RoofDek. Viriform’s RoofDek range, consisting of slim and deep deck, is the most comprehensive range of structural roof decking of any Irish manufacturer, while all steel profiles, in specific gauges, are FM approved.

Customer usability is paramount to Viriform and that's why the range is available in lengths spanning 1m to 12m, aiding cost-effectiveness and construction efficiencies. The product is mostly used in flat roof constructions and increasingly in the modern methods of construction (MMC) space.

Close collaboration with engineers and fabricators

Viriform has been producing galvanised steel purlins for more than 30 years and in the last couple of years have transitioned to the production of sigma-profile purlins. They have a hot-dipped galvanised coating, are available in six depths and 1.5mm to 2.5mm gauge thickness. These changes have been implemented as a result of close collaboration with engineers and fabricators and can be fully detailed on Tekla

The Viriform range is underpinned by a guaranteed level of quality as all products are covered by an EN Standard and carry appropriate CE Marking. Its factories operate to ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environment) standards and offer full traceability of all products and components.

In the almost 50 years that Viriform has been supplying the market it has developed a wealth of technical expertise and a wide-ranging, quality product suite.

In more recent years, Viriform has furnished some of Ireland’s leading construction projects such as the redeveloped Boland’s Mill in Dublin and Cork GAA’s Páirc Uí Chaoimh stadium. State-of-the-art Irish construction projects delivered by a Guaranteed Irish business.
