Fifty jobs are to be created after planning permission was granted for a solar energy farm in Co Cork. Amarenco Solar is to install 22,000 panels on ground-mounted frames on a site of 10.2 hectares at Kilmoney.
Forty of the jobs will be created during the construction phase, with 10 full-time staff when it’s operational. The farm will generate enough energy to power 2,500 homes.
The company says it has plans to apply for 40 other solar farms around Ireland. The company has already applied to Cork County Council for five additional facilities in the county.
This week, Amarenco Solar, the Irish Developer of Solar Energy Assets in Europe announced is to relocate its international headquarters from Dublin to Cork.
The company’s largest operations are in the south of France, where the company is actively managing assets of the value of €230 million across 17 sites. It has a further pipeline of six projects in France for 2016.
Amarenco Solar now has offices in Cork, Dublin, London, Nice and Gaillac. The company is currently in a significant debt-finance fund-raising process in London, which is expected to close in mid-February.
