When designing or building a new property or retrofitting an existing property, meeting building regulations is a top priority. To help those within the trade save time in this area, Grant is providing a free-of-charge home heating design service to engineers, architects, BER and construction developers across the country.
As part of this service the technical specialists at Grant will determine the correct heat load for a room by carrying out room by room heat loss calculations in line with SR:50 guidelines, which also helps to verify NZEB standards, now required by all new buildings in the Republic of Ireland.
This is extremely important when it comes to designing the correct flow temperatures for the emitters within the heating system.
In addition to heat loss calculations, Grant’s technical team will also advise on the recommended main heat source, heat emitters and supporting technologies to best suit the individual property’s needs, to ensure the property benefits from the best suited heating solution with maximum efficiencies.
Supporting technologies include Grant’s high-performance pre-plumbed and pre wired hot water cylinders which have been designed to heat water faster and more efficiently than a standard cylinder, making it a perfect partner for renewable heat sources like the Grant Aerona³ R32 air source heat pump range and the Grant Vortex condensing oil boiler range.
When installing a hot water cylinder to help on the journey to zero carbon, it is very important that the cylinder has been correctly sized to ensure the hot water needs of the property are fulfilled and that the EPE (energy performance co efficient) and the CPC (carbon performance co efficient) are met.
Range of Wave hot water cylinders
Grant’s range of Wave hot water cylinders are manufactured from duplex stainless steel and are indirect, mains water cylinders. The single and double coil cylinders are high gain which leads to a much faster heating time and quicker recovery.
In addition to offering indirect single and twin coil cylinders in both 200 litre and 300 litre sizes, Grant offers a 200 litre pre-plumbed and pre-wired hot water cylinder, which allows quick and convenient installation, as well as a neat appearance within the property.
The pre-configured, electronic wiring centre allows the installer to connect controls, pumps and motorised valves together in a coherent and simple to understand manner.
In addition, the wiring centre does all the complicated cross wiring during installation, which ultimately saves time during the installation process.
These significant benefits haven’t gone unnoticed and have resulted in Grant’s hot water cylinder quickly becoming the cylinder of choice amongst those in the trade.
The A-rated pre-plumbed and pre-wired hot water cylinders come configured for two heating zones and a domestic hot water zone, with an option to add an extra heating zone. The cylinders also include a factory fitted automatic bypass.
Heating technologies
It is this technical insight and careful combination of the heating technologies within Grant’s heating design service which ensures that the heating solution is bespoke to the property and complies with Part L of the Building Regulations.
