The ESA Excellence Awards showcase the best in class campaigns across Europe and cover the entire spectrum of sponsorship disciplines. Electric Ireland has sponsored ‘Darkness Into Light’ for Pieta House for the past five years.
Electric Ireland was recognised for its marketing and consumer insight that has helped achieve greater understanding and awareness of the issues relating to suicide and depression and motivating over 180,000 people to get up at 4.15am to do a 5KM walk each year. The sponsorship has also helped generate €4.7 million in 2017 which is used by Pieta House to invest in support services nationwide.
Speaking about the sponsorship awards Jim Dollard, executive director, Electric Ireland, said: “It is great to get this recognition for a sponsorship that is very close to the hearts and minds of our customers, staff and the general public.
"This has been a courageous journey over five years working with Pieta House to understand the issues around mental health and doing something positive to demonstrate support. It fits with the ethos of the ESB Group and Electric Ireland to show how businesses, communities and people can work together to do something positive to help people with the challenges they face every day. We are so proud of these awards.”
