Training aim
The Higher Diploma in Business Studies (part-time) is an NFQ Level 8, two-year part-time postgraduate course delivered online.Applicants require a Level 8 honours degree of H2.2 standard or above to meet the entry requirement. This course is open to graduates of any discipline who wish to acquire a grounding in business practices.
The Higher Diploma Business Studies is designed to provide non-business graduates with a well-rounded understanding of business. Students will be educated in the fundamental skills of business administration, enabling them to play an active role in the management and development of business enterprises. All modules assume no previous knowledge of the subject.Subjects studied as part of this course include Accounting, Business Information Systems, Economics, Marketing and Management.

Upon completion of the Higher Diploma in Business Studies (part-time) it is expected graduates will be able to:

Course outline
The objective of the Higher Diploma in
Business Studies (part-time) postgraduate course is to provide an orientation
for graduates, other than graduates in business, towards the commercial and
industrial environment, and to provide training in the fundamental skills of
business administration that enables graduates of the course to play an active
and fruitful role in the development and management of business enterprises.
Core to the realisation of this objective is the building of competencies in
Accounting, Economics, Management, Marketing, and Business Information Systems
together with team and management focused competencies such as teamwork and
communications. Emphasis is placed on individual and group assignments,
focusing on developing both applied skills and key interpersonal skills.

The Centre for Adult Learning and
Professional Development aims to advance the lifelong learning needs of adult
learners. CALPD provides continuing professional development opportunities to
the region through the delivery of higher education qualifications and
stand-alone CPD modules. We serve four groups of people: professionals who wish
to upskill; employers who want to develop the skills of their staff;
professional bodies that manage accreditation for their members; and course
coordinators who deliver training.
