Course Aim
This one day course aims to provide delegates with an understanding of the concepts and methods associated with the delivery of Road Safety Audits in Ireland. Delegates will gain an understanding of the standards applying to Road Safety Auditing, Road Safety Principles, the Road Safety Audit Method as well as risk assessment for the Road Safety Audit Process.
Course Overview
The main objective of the Road Safety Audit Process is to minimise the severity and the frequency of collisions on our roads. Collisions are how traffic engineers refer to road traffic accidents. In the eyes of a traffic engineer, there’s no such thing as an accident.
This one day course aims to provide delegates with an understanding of the concepts and methods associated with the delivery of Road Safety Audits in Ireland. Delegates will also gain an insight into the standards which apply to road safety auditing, how collisions can occur, the general principles of road safety engineering and the road safety audit method.

Martin Deegan
BEng(Hons) MSc CEng MIEI
Martin has accumulated over 30 years of practical experience delivering complex transportation infrastructure through all commission stages. His career commenced as a contracting civil engineer, supporting the construction of major road and infrastructure projects in Ireland, UK and Australia. Over the last 20 years, Martin has served in various Director positions for civil engineering consultancies in Ireland, UK and the Middle East, developing and leading the day to day operation of a number of highly effective traffic and road safety engineering teams.
