Meet some of our team
Andrea McConnon, electrical engineer, Engineering and Major Projects
"Having first started as an electrical apprentice and then completing the engineering graduate programme, ESB has played a pivotal role in my professional development.
"The continuous training and encouragement received throughout my career with ESB has afforded me the ability and confidence to push myself to try new things. Over the years I have taken on more responsibility in my role, engaging with people from different business units and at different levels across the company."
Andrew Hayes, Power System Studies, Engineering and Major Projects
"Within Engineering and Major Projects, I’ve enjoyed the range of projects I’ve been exposed to and the responsibility that was placed on me as a young engineer while in Ireland and while posted in Bahrain.
"The work has been challenging but through the support by colleagues and the provision of professional training it has allowed me to develop. Through the Brighter Future Strategy, I am looking forward to the exciting and challenging future ahead within Engineering and Major Projects, in which we will play a crucial role in the transition of society to a low-carbon future in Ireland and abroad."
Ruth Nugent, HV Cables route surveyor, Engineering and Major Projects
"I’ve been working for ESB for nearly four years and in EMP for more than a year now. Throughout my time in ESB I have learnt that there are always opportunities to move forward with my career within the company – with a variety of roles to move through, too.
"I am proud of ESB’s diverse and inclusive culture as it allows me to be me at work. There is a great social network within the company which makes you feel like part of a family. I would recommend working for ESB because of the range of opportunities to bring your career forward, the benefits offered to you as an employee of the company and the positive work environment offered by ESB."
Gavin Kane, HV Cables senior engineer, Engineering and Major Projects
"Having joined the HV Cables Team in ESB Engineering and Major Projects in October 2018, I have found the working culture to be extremely innovative as well as motivational. The support and guidance I have received to improve my professional development has been a huge help to me and it is very much appreciated.
"Being in a position to play my part in HV Cable Projects and assisting with the delivery of Ireland’s 2030 Climate Action Plan is something that I am really proud of. I would certainly recommend working for ESB Engineering and Major Projects to anybody looking for a new opportunity."
