UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School now offers its part-time MSc in Management fully online.
This exciting programme offers participants all the benefits of a comprehensive management education without putting their careers on hold thanks to its highly flexible online delivery mode, and innovative curriculum and materials.
It is particularly suited to professionals who are in demanding roles and/or those with caring responsibilities for whom time flexibility is important, as well as for those based outside of Dublin and Ireland looking to study at UCD.
Accelerate their career
The programme is aimed at those with a non-business undergraduate degree who are looking to accelerate their career. Over the years, several students from an engineering background have enrolled and excelled on the programme.
Many of them had aspired to move into a management role within their organisations, whilst others already found themselves in managerial positions and wanted to equip themselves with an in-depth understanding of key business disciplines and acquire the necessary problem-solving and leadership skills to support their continued professional development.
Students will undertake twelve modules online over two academic years – three modules per trimester over the course of four trimesters. Among the final modules of the programme is a Business Research Project which allows students to focus their attention upon a particular area of interest.
Students also participate in a Business Simulation module which allows for them to put into practice all the skills that they have acquired in a simulated business environment as they compete against other teams within the class.
In a trimester, there are usually between three to five hours of live sessions for modules. These sessions generally take place on either mid-week evenings or Saturday mornings. There is no mandatory live attendance element for this programme – these live sessions are recorded and made available to all students in the class on the second working day after the session.
80% of lecturer-led learning content is pre-recorded
Approximately, 80% of lecturer-led learning content is pre-recorded, and is available for students to view throughout the trimester. For all modules, lecturers share a suggested pace of learning with their students allowing them to create their own study schedule to suit their busy lives safe in the knowledge that they will not fall behind on their work.

A dedicated Programme Manager will be available for the duration of your studies to support your learning through your academic journey with a weekly update, and progress calls. Even though the programme is online, connecting and working with peers in the class is still an integral part of the learning experience.
