Demand for project management skills in engineering is growing
The Project Management Institute (PMI) estimated that more than
15 million new project management related roles would be created globally across engineering industries between 2010 and 2020. However, despite career opportunities flourishing, the demand for engineering professionals with project management skills is not matched by available personnel with such competencies. There has never been a more pressing need for engineering professionals to strengthen their project management capabilities and widen their business skills.
Technical expertise has a key role to play in understanding project requirements but to deliver projects successfully requires a broader skill set such as leadership, strategic thinking, budgeting, people management, risk management and decision making skills.
