Leading construction solutions supplier Groundforce has appointed two senior people to its piling operations to reflect the group’s focus on this increasingly busy sector.

Gary Crumlish has been appointed as director – piling and compliance, while Gary Bodycote is recruited to the new position of national sales manager – piling.

Crumlish rejoined Groundforce in 2022 as compliance director UK and Ireland. He had previously been with the company for seven years, most recently as senior operations manager with Groundforce Shorco.

The former apprentice engineer, with more than 30 years in engineering roles, has also worked in senior management roles in oil and gas, and rail, including several years as field engineer on oil rigs in the North Sea and Africa, including a few years as a supervisor on the iconic Forth Rail Bridge.

He said: “I am thrilled to lead our two piling businesses, Piletec and Mr Cropper, alongside such a talented team. We will continue to drive innovation and invest in and develop our staff to attract and retain the best people for now and the future in our rental sector.”

Bodycote joins with almost 30 years of sales experience under his belt, most recently as business development manager/regional sales manager with a nationwide plant equipment hire company. He has also worked as a depot manager and an industrial commercial utilities broker.

He said: “I am very much enjoying the challenge of getting to know a different product, in piling and cropping, and engaging with the specialist people that sit within the sector, both internally and externally. Since joining it’s been a whirlwind and I am looking forward to making a real difference moving forward.”
