Utilise Group incorporating Utilise Gas is an organisation specialising in the Irish utilities training, health & safety consultancy and engineering auditing sectors. We specialise in polyethylene (PE) electrofusion & butt fusion welding training, auditing and assessment as well as safety inspection and site auditing services. We are are accredited to deliver IOSH Managing Safely training programs.
Training aim
The aim of this course is to provide candidates with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform electrofusion and butt fusion welded joints to Gas industry standards.
Learning objectives
On completion of the course candidates will be able to;
1. Identify and select polyethylene pipe and fittings;
2. Identify and select suitable jointing tools & machine equipment;
3. Work safely in accordance with PE fusion standards & procedures;
4. Manufacture and inspect welds to industry standard;
5. Understand the main requirements for Gas Industry Standards.
Course outline
The course is delivered by the presentation of written and verbal theory sessions, practical training and assessment and covers;
1. Characteristics and identification of PE Pipes and associated fittings;
2. Supply, handling and installation of PE Pipes and associated fittings;
3. Pre jointing equipment and machine checks;
4. How to manufacture electrofusion and butt fusion welded joints using associated machines and equipment.
5. Inspection of joints for quality assurance.

Assessment & certification
A Utilise Group/Engineers Ireland Certificate will be awarded to candidates who pass a short written examination and practical assessment.
