Aster
Environmental Consultants Ltd through the Ecology Centre
(www.theecologycentre.ie) have been offering courses in Habitats Directive and
impact assessment for twelve years. We have been contracted by competent
authorities; county councils, state bodies and private consultancies to provide
bespoke Ecological courses to them over that period. We have trained over 500
professionals also helped to design and given advice on templates for
Appropriate Assessment and plain English guidance notes.
Training aim
To
help this group to advise clients and plan projects in relation to legal requirements
for mitigation.
Learning objectives
1. Identify mitigation required in
respect of species and habitats
2. Understand
the three types of mitigation: avoidance, management and physical mitigation.
3. Apply
best practice mitigation measures for habitats and species listed under the
Wildlife Act and Habitats Directive
Course outline
Mitigation
has become a legal requirement in respect of projects that require Natura Impact Statement. Thus to meet the requirements of the directive it is
essential that mitigation works effectively to protect habitats and species.
This course will look at the legal aspects or mitigation and explore mitigation
methods appropriate for habitats and species of conservation concern.
Trainer's profile
Marie
Louise is a chartered environmentalist with the Society of the Environment UK
and a training provider for, and full member of, the Chartered Institute for
Ecology and Environmental Management (MCIEEM).
She has worked as an environmental
consultant ecologist since 1997 establishing Aster Environmental Consultants in
2002 and the Ecology Centre in 2012.
Course duration
Two
half days by Zoom or one full day in person.
Assessment & certification
A certificate of attendance will be
supplied with Engineers Ireland Logo
