Peter Quinn, a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of Engineers Ireland, was awarded a BSc degree in Civil Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) in 1977 and graduated in 1985 with an MSc. Peter is director of P G Quinn Ltd, a civil/ structural engineering consultancy in County Tyrone.

Peter commenced his professional career in Belfast where he worked as a site engineer on heavy marine construction at Cloghan Point Jetty, on Whiteabbey Shore Road and on urban motorway construction on Belfast’s West-link.

From 1980 to 1982, Peter managed the earthworks and bridge construction teams on a road project in northern Nigeria. On return to Ireland in 1982, he joined Monaghan County Council where he worked on water, housing and national roads projects as designer, resident engineer and project manager until 2000.

Through part-time study, Peter graduated from QUB in 1985 with an MSc and was awarded the title Chartered Engineer the same year. He is a EUR ING, delivered by FEANI (the European Federation of National Engineering Associations), a Chartered member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Member of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation. He was admitted as a Fellow of Engineers Ireland in 2007. For the past 18 years, Peter has been a director of P G Quinn Ltd, a civil/ structural engineering consultancy in County Tyrone.

Peter and Anne have three sons; John, an IT software engineer has recently returned home to Ireland after eight years in Sydney, Australia and has taken up employment in Galway with Valeo, while David and Aidan are both structural engineers on the Earthquake Recovery Programme in Christchurch, New Zealand. Peter is an enthusiastic Tyrone football supporter and enjoys a game of golf.
