About the event

The Irish Cement plant in Platin Co Meath, part of the CRH Group,  produces cement for the Irish, UK and European markets, and has been in operation since 1938.

Irish Cement Platin has had several upgrades including the recent construction of Kiln 3 in 2008 and plans for Waste Heat recovery and Electricity Generation in 2015.

This site visit will consist of a 1 hour tour of the cement production process and the nearby limestone quarry.  Attendees will learn about how the limestone is extracted, the co-processing fuels used in the heating processes, the chemical reactions that take place to produce the cement, and finally the final packaging and dispatch.

We look forward to seeing you there!
