About the event

Since January 1st 2014, structural steelwork falls under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR), which means structural steel CE marking must be secured to show compliance with EN 1090-1 (the harmonised European standard that applies to structural metalwork). This presentation will outline the requirements of CE marking of Structural Steel in accordance with EN 1090-1 with a particular focus on small and medium scale structures.

Humberto Dos Santos, Lead Auditor at Omni Assured Certification
International
Based in Tralee, OMNI is one of two Notified Bodies that can legally Audit EN1090 in Ireland, NSAI being the other. Humberto undertakes auditing of ISO 9001 – Quality Management, EN1090 – CE Marking of Structural Steel and ISO 3834 - Quality Requirements for Fusion Welding. He is both a Qualified Welding Inspector and Intumescent Coatings Trainer and Inspector. He is also a RWC (Responsible Welding Coordinator) and leads training courses for manufacturers. He has 16 years' experience in compliance for the steel industry.

Pat Enright - Head of Compliance at the Irish Association of Steel Fabricators
Pat has 30 years' experience in standards of steel and concrete products. As Head of Technical Compliance at The Irish Association Of Steel Fabricators, he is Technical Advisor to several Notified / Certification Bodies. He is also a RWC and both a Lead Auditor for EN1090 and ISO 9001. Through the Irish Association Of Steel Fabricators he promotes standards within the steel and concrete industry. Pat coordinates TEKLA training among Fabricators in Ireland with a 5-year plan to have 55% of Fabricators competent in detailing. Pat coordinates inspections, internal audits, weld testing and load testing for the Irish Association Of Steel Fabricators which has some 1,250 members.
