About the event

The proponents of an AI-augmented future seem to have a vision of a machine-led utopia. However there is not enough discussion on the ethics of pushing human society into such a utopia. Is the expectation of ethical behaviour an all-or-nothing proposition? What are the legal consequences of unethical behaviour by a machine-augmented human being? Do a machine’s ethical duties towards humanity supersede individual human rights?

The School of Computer Science, UCD invites you to a keynote address by Dr. Joanna Goodey, Head of Research & Data Unit, European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights. Her talk is entitled - AI and fundamental rights: Not only a question of ethics.
