About the event

The Dublin Waste-to-Energy project is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) between Dublin City Council (acting on behalf of the four Dublin Local Authorities) and Covanta, a world leader in providing sustainable waste and energy solutions, to provide a sustainable treatment of waste that cannot be reused or recycled. The plant processes at least 600,000 tonnes of waste per year and generates 60MW of electricity to power 80,000 homes.

During the site visit, attendees will be given a 20-minute presentation about the plant’s operation and the technologies used.  This will be followed by guided tours around the plant in small groups to view the control room, waste processing, boiler and steam turbine and the processing of the exhaust gases. The tour will conclude with a question and answer session.
