About the event

In this presentation Martin Hartley, a UK based independent Sprinkler Consultant, will focus on the current code of practice standard for Residential & Domestic Fire Sprinkler Systems (BS 9251:2014) and will cover the design and installation of Residential & Domestic Sprinkler systems including water supplies & pumps, residential sprinkler heads, commissioning and certification  of completed systems, handover documentation, ongoing routine maintenance and inspection and testing requirements.

Martin will also discuss the draft European Standard for Residential & Domestic Fire Sprinkler Systems (prEN 16925) and the UK’s position on this standard.  He will share his experience in the UK in carrying out inspections of Residential & Domestic Sprinkler Systems and lessons learned. Martin  will also discuss Accreditation Bodies and their schemes in the UK for approving Residential & Domestic Sprinkler Installers.

There will also be an opportunity at the end of the presentation for Martin to answer any questions from the audience on this topic as well as questions on other Commercial and Industrial sprinkler systems.

About the speaker

Martin Hartley
Martin has over 40 years' experience in the Sprinkler/Fire Protection Contracting Industry in the UK and for the last 4 years has been an independent consultant carrying out annual sprinkler inspection surveys of existing systems and also providing technical training and business development advice to companies in the sprinkler industry in the UK and Ireland.

During his long career in the industry, he has been involved in developing and writing standards for Sprinkler systems and has also served for many years on the Council of the British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association (BAFSA) having been Vice Chairman and Executive of the Association. Martin has also represented BSI on the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) in updating standards for Sprinkler Systems.
