There has a great deal of media commentary on the Fire Safety Legacy issues associated with residential buildings constructed during the “boom”. In this presentation Eamon O Boyle will examine these legacy issues, what actions have been taken to date, what actions are available to regulators and how can the problem be solved?

About the speaker

Eamon O Boyle BE MAI CEng FIEI
Eamon is Managing Director of Eamon O Boyle and Associates (EOBA), a Dublin based Fire Engineering Consultancy established in 2002. He has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from NUIG and a masters degree in Fire Engineering from Trinity College Dublin. Eamon is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of Engineers Ireland. EOBA provides Fire Engineering advice and consultancy to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Fire Services Acts and Building Control Act. EOBA is also the leading Engineering Consultancy providing public safety advice for Eamon was also a member of the Fire Task Force set up after the Grenfell Tower disaster and participated in the development on the guidance relating to Fire Assessments in High rise buildings and the report on Fire Safety in Ireland. Eamon also wrote the Code of Practice which was published by the Minister for the Environment addressing legacy issue in residential properties.
