About the event

Nearly Zero Energy Buildings and Major Renovation to a cost optimal level requirements apply to all new dwellings commencing construction from the 1st Nov 2019.

This session will give an over view of the requirements in Part L of the Building Regulations for dwellings for renewables, fabric and energy efficient services. An overview of approaches to mitigating overheating risk in low energy dwellings will also be provided by SEAI.

Draft proposals for EV Charging infrastructure and Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS) in buildings are also being published for Public Consultation by Department of Housing Planning and Local Government. A summary of these proposals will be provided at this session.

About the Speakers

Orla Coyle is Programme Manager for NZEB and High Performance Retrofit within the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland. Orla’s role involves the development of policy and programmes to encourage the retrofit of the Irish building stock and methodologies for demonstrating compliance with NZEB. She has 20 years’ experience in the energy performance of buildings both in Ireland and Australia. As a consultant, Orla was involved with the environmental, energy and sustainable assessment of both new and existing buildings

Emmanuel Bourdin is an Advisor in the Built Environment Advisory Unit of the DHPLG and works on regulations and standards related to Part J, Part L and Part F of the Buildings Regulations for dwellings. He supports the implementation of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and has worked as an engineer for 20 years in the manufacturing and distribution industries of energy management construction products.

Edel Murray is an Advisor in the Housing/ Building Standards Division of the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government. She leads on regulations and standards related to Part L and Part F of the Buildings Regulations for Buildings other than Dwellings, and supports the implementation of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive. She is a Registered Architect with experience in architecture design and construction across a range of sectors.
