About the event

A site visit to the Vartry Water Treatment Plant at Roundwood where Irish Water are carrying out a major upgrade of the plant and are committed to consulting with and keeping the local community informed with respect to these works. Once completed the upgrade will secure the long-term future of the water supply for 200,000 people in Wicklow and south Dublin and ensure it meets all drinking water standards.

What is involved in this project?

  • Construction of a new Water Treatment Plant on the site of the existing plant at Vartry
  • Decommissioning of existing Water Treatment Plant
  • Replacing ageing pipes and fittings within the dam of the Vartry Reservoir
  • Improvements to the Vartry dam spillway to allow for more intense rainfall events resulting in larger spills from the reservoir to ensure public safety

Required PPE

Attendees are requested to come prepared for a construction site visit with the appropriate PPE: Hi Viz Vest, Safety Boots, safety glasses and Hard Hat and gloves.
